Metropolitan Vissarion of Ovruch and Korosten has undergone complex surgery at the Shalimov Institute in Kyiv. This was reported by the Pershyi Kozatskyi Telegram channel.
In mid-May, doctors at the Shalimov Institute removed a tumor from Metropolitan Vissarion. The operation lasted nine hours. It was already the hierarch’s seventh surgery.
According to those close to the hierarch, the operation was successful, but Metropolitan Vissarion now requires a long recovery and expensive treatment. After the surgery, nearly all of Vladyka’s funds were spent on medical expenses.
The Metropolitan’s relatives and close associates are appealing to the faithful for help in purchasing the necessary medicines, including supportive therapy drugs that cost several thousand hryvnias per day.
“We ask all concerned Orthodox Christians to support Vladyka Vissarion during this difficult period and to pray for his speedy recovery,” the appeal reads.
A bank account has been opened to help Metropolitan Vissarion: 5168 7521 5121 8826.
As the UOJ reported, Metropolitan Vissarion was hospitalized in serious condition last year.
