Patriarch Porfirije filmed the opening and closing sequences of a documentary film and television series about Saint Sava, the first Archbishop and Enlightener of Serbia, in the crypt of the Temple of Saint Sava in Belgrade. The filming took place against the backdrop of a monumental fresco of Serbian saints. This was reported by the website of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

According to the organizers, the words spoken by the Patriarch during the filming express a deep devotion to the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church and one of the most significant figures in Serbian history. The film and series are being created with the blessing of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the SOC in cooperation with the brotherhood of Hilandar Monastery, with "Optimistic Film" serving as the project's producer.

During the filming, exclusive conversations were recorded with abbots and monks of the monasteries of Hilandar, Vatopedi, Stary Russik, and the kellion of Pateritsa, as well as footage of sacred objects from the Hilandar treasury previously unknown to the general public.

Filming took place at numerous locations in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Dalmatia, the Holy Mountain of Athos, Jerusalem, Turkey, Sinai, Bulgaria, and the USA, using drones and multi-camera filming. The director and producer of the film is Dr. Željko Mirković, an author of documentary works recognized with more than 130 international awards; his films "Tesla's People" and "The Other Encounter" were included in the qualifying list for the Academy Award.

As the SPJ reported, the Hilandar Monastery on Athos honored the memory of its founder, Sava of Serbia.
