Pilgrims of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church visited holy sites of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The trip was led by Mitred Archpriest Andriy Serman, head of the Pilgrimage Department of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy.
During the visit, the faithful prayed at Sioni Cathedral in Tbilisi for peace in Ukraine and asked for prayerful intercession for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The pilgrims also visited the burial place of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia and offered prayers for the repose of his soul.
On the eighth Sunday after Pentecost, Archpriest Andriy Serman concelebrated with Georgian clergy at the Holy Trinity Monastery at the foot of Mount Kazbek, more than 2,000 meters above sea level. A joint service was also held at Bagrati Cathedral in Kutaisi on the feast day of Holy Prince Volodymyr. During the Liturgies, the pilgrims prayed for peace and for the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.
As part of the pilgrimage, the faithful venerated holy sites associated with Equal-to-the-Apostles Nina, the Martyrs David and Constantine, and Venerable Gabriel Urgebadze.
The group also visited monasteries and churches in Mtskheta, including Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Samtavro Monastery, as well as Anchiskhati Cathedral and other revered holy sites across Georgia.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that faithful of the Zhytomyr Eparchy had met with Patriarch Theophilos in Jerusalem.
