A new altar was consecrated in a UOC church in Svalyava, Zakarpattia

On August 29, 2026, the vicar of the Mukachevo Diocese, Bishop of Svalyava Hilariy, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the church in honor of the Image Not Made by Human Hands in the Bystry district of the city of Svalyava. As reported by the press service of the Mukachevo Diocese, before the beginning of the service, the UOC hierarch performed the rite of consecration of the new altar.

The bishop was co-served by clergy of the Svalyava deanery. During the Liturgy, prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine and for the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the conclusion of the service, a molieben was served, after which Bishop Hilariy addressed those present with a sermon. The bishop conveyed to the faithful the blessing of the ruling bishop of the Mukachevo Diocese, Metropolitan Feodor, and also thanked the rector of the church, Archpriest Vasyl Popovych, the parishioners, and all those who labor in the improvement of the church.

As the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported, Bishop Hilariy had previously consecrated a new altar in the Zakarpattian village of Stroino.
