Firefighters from Lyuboml and Starovoytov extinguished a fire at the wooden St. Barbara's church in the village of Mashev. Local specialists have begun determining the exact cause of the fire. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Volyn Oblast.

The duty service recorded a call about the fire at St. Barbara's church on August 30, 2026, at 15:46. Emergency service personnel from the nearest fire stations immediately dispatched to the scene. Volunteer fire brigades from the neighboring villages of Shtun and Holovne also arrived to assist.

Water jets were used to fight the fire. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the firefighters, the fire was completely extinguished two hours after it broke out.

The flames managed to partially damage the walls, ceiling, and two wooden doors. Elements of the interior décor and church property also suffered from the high temperature. Specialists are currently conducting an examination to establish the exact cause of the fire.
