From February 24, 2022, to September 21, 2026, at least 432 churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were damaged or completely destroyed as a result of hostilities in Ukraine, according to the Workshop of Academic Religious Studies.

As of the end of September 2026, the project had documented a total of 807 damaged religious buildings belonging to various denominations.

About 80 religious buildings were completely destroyed, while more than 135 others sustained severe damage and are beyond repair. Many sites were struck more than once, with some ultimately destroyed by repeated attacks.

UOC churches account for the largest share of all religious buildings damaged in the country. The report also provides figures for other denominations: 207 Protestant sites, 83 OCU churches, 37 Greek and Roman Catholic churches, 24 Jewish sites, 13 religious educational institutions, eight Muslim sites, and 16 buildings belonging to other religions.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Olena Zelenska visited an exhibition in Paris dedicated to destroyed churches of Ukraine.
