UOC marks Synaxis of All Saints of Volyn Land at Lutsk cathedral
Metropolitan Serhiy of Ternopil and Kremenets led the Liturgy on the feast day of the Lutsk cathedral of All Saints of the Volyn Land.
On October 23, 2026, the feast day of All Saints of the Volyn Land, the patronal feast of the cathedral was celebrated in Lutsk, reports the website of the Volyn Eparchy of the UOC. The festive Divine Liturgy was led by Metropolitan Serhiy of Ternopil and Kremenets.
He was concelebrated by Metropolitan Volodymyr of Pochaiv, Metropolitan Anatoliy of Polissia and Sarny, Metropolitan Nathanael of Volyn and Lutsk, Archbishop Job of Shumsk, and Archbishop Athanasiy of Kamin-Kashyrskyi. Among those in prayerful attendance were numerous clergy of the Volyn and other eparchies of the UOC, as well as thousands of believers – residents of Lutsk and guests of the city.
The service featured performances by the choir of clergy of the Volyn Diocese, conducted by Protodeacon Mykhailo Abramchuk; the cathedral’s episcopal choir, "Volyn Bells," conducted by Maria Fedosiuk-Vyslotska; and the youth choir "Cantilena," conducted by Matushka Anastasiia Pinchuk.
During the Liturgy, special prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, Ukrainian defenders, and all Orthodox Christians. Prayers were also offered for the repose of the soldiers who perished defending the Fatherland.
At the conclusion of the service, a festive Mnogaya Leta (Many Years) hymn was sung, after which Metropolitan Serhiy addressed those present with words of archpastoral greeting. Metropolitan Nafanaïl thanked the hierarchs, clergy, and faithful for their prayers together and wished them to keep the fire of God’s grace burning in their hearts, following the example of the saints of the Volyn region in their faith and love for God.
The feast of the Synaxis of the Volyn Saints was established in 1881 on the initiative of the church historian Archpriest Andriy Khoinatsky, when the Pochaiv Lavra marked the 50th anniversary of the return from the Union to Orthodoxy. Initially, the synaxis included seven names. In 2012, the Holy Synod of the UOC added to it the names of 18 newly glorified martyrs and St. Peter (Mohyla).
The cathedral is consecrated in honor of All Saints of the Volyn Land, and the day of their commemoration, October 23, became its patronal feast.
As the UOJ reported, the Volyn Eparchy held the annual festival of Sunday schools "Pokrov".
