The Executive Committee of the Kalush City Council has issued a favorable opinion on the statute of a new OCU structure, to which the authorities plan to transfer the St. Nicholas Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The head of Kalush's Department of Culture, Nationalities and Religions, Liubov Dzhuhan, reported that the documents of the newly created structure headed by Fyodor Moroz have been sent to the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration for subsequent state registration. According to her, once the legal procedures are completed, the St. Nicholas Church will be handed over to the OCU for use.
The UOC's St. Nicholas Church in Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk region, was seized on March 10, 2022, with the participation of representatives of the local territorial defense and armed people. The Ivano-Frankivsk Eparchy of the UOC noted at the time that the seizure of the church in Kalush was one of six cases of forcible seizure of church buildings and structures in the region within a single week.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that security forces seized a UOC church in Biloziria.
