UOC Boryspil Eparchy priest's brother killed in war

In the Chernihiv region, on October 8, 2026, a funeral service was held for the soldier Roman Povkh – the brother of the rector of a church in the village of Sadove, a cleric of the Boryspil Eparchy of the UOC, reports the Berezan Deanery.
The funeral service was performed at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior in the village of Perevolochna of the Sukhopolova community. The deceased was the brother of the rector of the St. Demetrius parish in the village of Sadove.
The service was performed by the clerics of two Pryluky deaneries of the Nizhyn Eparchy, concelebrated by the brother of the deceased – Archpriest Valery Povkh.
Roman Povkh was killed at the age of 43, on February 4, 2025, in the Donetsk direction, when he went out on his first combat mission. After that, he was considered missing for one year and eight months.
The soldier was buried in the village cemetery. The clergy and faithful of the Berezan Deanery pray for the repose of the soldier Roman and express their condolences to Archpriest Valery and his family.
As the UOJ reported, a monk was killed in the Kherson Eparchy due to drone strikes on a UOC monastery.
