Youth Day-2017 celebrated in Ukraine
The holiday takes its roots from the USSR, when on February 7, 1958, the "Day of Soviet Youth" was established by the Decree of the Presidium "On the Establishment of the Day of Soviet Youth".
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, by decree "On the Day of Youth" President Leonid Kravchuk appointed its celebration also on the last Sunday of the first summer month. The document was signed on June 22, 1994.
In Ukraine, the Ministry of Youth and Sports is responsible for youth policy. Young people in Ukraine are people under 35 years of age.
According to the official norms of the World Health Organization, a person of up to 44 years of age is considered young. Then comes the so-called middle age, which lasts up to 60 years.
As the holiday always falls on the day off, various events are often held in cities and towns. Local authorities organize sport competitions, festivals, concerts to support youth.
In general, this is a family holiday, kind and positive, aimed at the development of Ukrainian youth.
In the world, there are also many similar holidays. So, the United Nations agreed on the date of 12 August to observe the International Youth Day.
Also, there is the World Youth Day, which in 1945 was approved at the Congress of the World Federation of Democratic Youth. The date of the celebration was fixed on November 10.
