I am Orthodox: artist Ilya Glazunov in Moscow goes out of this world
He liked to say that he was a monarchist and Orthodox. Glazunov always noted that "revolution is genocide and extinction of the people." It was an Orthodox monarchist, who did not hide his views even in the Soviet years.
According to TASS, the funeral of Glazunov will take place in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill offered a prayer for the repose of the artist and conveyed his condolences to the relatives and friends of Glazunov. "His Holiness the Patriarch knew the deceased very well, communicated with him a lot, visited his gallery not so long ago," said the press secretary of the patriarch, priest Alexander Volkov.
Glazunov is the author of more than three thousand works. In the work of Glazunov, religious painting and graphics have occupied a special place since the 1960s. Turning to the events of the past and our days, to the subjects of the Bible and the lives of the saints, he tells about the past centuries and the present, the spiritual, philosophical foundations of its historical path.
