Bulgarian Patriarch: Our Synod will decide on the OCU after the war ends
Patriarch Daniel reiterated his opinion, first expressed when the OCU was created.
The Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia, Daniel, commented on the religious schism in Ukraine and the situation with the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), reports Eurocom Television.
The Patriarch recalled that in 2019, when the OCU was established, he, as the Metropolitan of Vidin at the time, stated that the Bulgarian Patriarchate should not recognize the new religious organization. However, the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church has yet to release an official position on the matter.
The Patriarch noted that the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church has a commission tasked with gathering all materials regarding the Ukrainian Church issue. He stated: "The general consensus is that this issue will find its resolution after the war in Ukraine ends."
As previously reported by the UOJ, the Bulgarian Patriarch informed the U.S. ambassador about the persecution of the UOC.
