Believers in Triskyni build new church to replace seized one
The first liturgical services were held in the newly built UOC church in the village of Triskyni.
On February 2-3, 2025, with the blessing of Metropolitan Anatoliy of Polissia and Sarny, the first services were held in the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy and Consolation" in the village of Triskyni, Sarny district, according to the UOC's Information and Educational Department.
After supporters of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) seized their St. Nicholas Church, Orthodox believers conducted services in a village house, which served as their place of worship for 1 year and 4 months.
Immediately after the seizure of their sanctuary, Orthodox residents of Triskyni sought opportunities to build a new church. After some time, they were able to begin construction, and within six months, through the efforts of the faithful, a new church was built in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy and Consolation."
On February 2, on the eve of the first patronal feast of the new church, the faithful held a solemn cross procession from their prayer house to their newly built sanctuary, after which the first all-night vigil was held there.
On February 3, the day of veneration of the Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos "Joy and Consolation", the first Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the new church. The service was led by Archimandrite Antony (Griban), abbot of the Intercession Monastery in the village of Velyki Tseptsovychi, along with clergy from the Sarny Diocese and visiting priests.
After the Liturgy, Father Antony congratulated the rector and parishioners on this joyful event in the life of their community.
At the conclusion of the celebration, the church builders were presented with copies of the Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos "Joy and Consolation".
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Orthodox community of Triskyni reaffirmed its allegiance to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).
