A “priest” of the Poltava Eparchy of the OCU announced his departure for the Kyiv Patriarchate.

On December 17, 2025, Dmytro Pedyna, a cleric of the Poltava Eparchy of the OCU, announced his official transition to the UOC–KP. He reported this on his Facebook page.

The former OCU cleric stated that the history and traditions of the Kyiv Patriarchate are closer to his views. Pedyna emphasized that the UOC–KP enjoys broader autonomy, which, in his words, “allows it to respond more effectively to the needs of believers in Ukraine and to defend Ukrainian interests on the international stage.”

The “priest” concluded that moving to the Kyiv Patriarchate is “an opportunity to live in accordance with one’s spiritual aspirations.”

Pedyna also stated that any possible “bans” imposed by the OCU would be considered invalid.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Filaret had received into the UOC–KP a community and a cleric who had criticized the leadership of the OCU.
