In Istanbul, police detained more than a hundred members of an extremist network that had called for attacks during the holiday season.

On December 25, 2025, police in Istanbul prevented planned terrorist attacks by supporters of the Islamic State, the Associated Press reports.

During a special operation, law enforcement detained 115 suspects. A large quantity of firearms and documents were seized from members of the extremist group. The Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office said the ISIS supporters were preparing a series of attacks for Christmas and New Year’s, primarily targeting representatives of other religions.

In recent days, the Syrian government has also launched a military operation against Islamic State groups on the outskirts of Damascus.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that a terrorist attack took place at a mosque in the Syrian city of Homs.
