Prime Minister of Israel pledges support for Christians facing persecution
The head of the Israeli government announced the country's readiness to participate in international initiatives to protect Christian communities under threat.
On January 3, 2026, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his intention to join international efforts to protect persecuted Christians worldwide. This was reported by the Christian Today portal.
Speaking to Evangelical community leaders in Florida, the head of the Israeli government emphasized Israel's readiness to support Christian communities under threat. "We are joining an effort to have basically a united nations of countries that support Christian communities around the world, beleaguered communities who deserve our help," Netanyahu stated.
The Prime Minister noted that Israel is cooperating with the USA and other countries and has the capabilities for such assistance, including the use of intelligence in Africa and resources in the Middle East. According to him, this work will continue "with greater force and greater might in this coming year".
The statement came amid discussions in the USA about support for Israel from Christian communities, as well as growing attention to the issue of Christian persecution in various regions of the world and the Middle East.
