Anna Paulina Luna wrote to Stefanishyna that justifying the actions of the Ukrainian authorities against the UOC is not good.

On January 11, 2026, U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna publicly responded to the words of Ukraine's Ambassador to the USA, Oksana Stefanishyna, who claimed that there is no persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

The occasion was the diplomat's statement denying the facts of persecution of the clergy and believers of the UOC.

In response, Luna suggested that the ambassador personally meet with Orthodox Christians who had previously reached out to her for assistance.

She posted a video in which UOC believers appeal to her for protection and wrote: "Are you able to provide comment on this video? Or how about the other Orthodox Christians that have come to visit me in my office? I’d be happy to set up a meeting with you and them."

"I understand you’re in a position of trying to explain the actions of the Ukrainian government, but imprisoning Christians is never a good thing. Nor is providing excuses," emphasized Anna Paulina Luna.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to the congresswoman, the persecution of Christians under Zelensky cannot be ignored.
