Islamists kill 13 Christians in Nigeria
Armed Fulani herders carried out a series of attacks on Christian villages: civilians were shot in their homes, dozens of people went missing.
In January 2026, in Benue State in central Nigeria, Islamists from among Fulani herders killed at least 13 Christians. This is reported by Morning Star News.
According to the publication, on the night of January 1, armed Fulani broke into the village of Otobi Akpa in Otukpo district and shot four Christians directly in their homes while people were sleeping. After the attack, dozens of residents went missing.
Another nine Christians were killed on January 5 and 6 in other areas of Benue State. Five believers working on their farms became victims of the attack; and in Guma district, Islamists killed four members of one Christian family.
Local authorities and community leaders state that such attacks have become almost an everyday reality for the region. Armed Fulani deliberately attack Christian villages, destroy homes and crops, forcing peaceful residents to leave their native places.
Christian leaders link what is happening to the activities of radically minded Islamists among the Fulani, who, according to them, seek to forcibly seize Christian lands and drive them out of the central regions of the country.
