Teen who set fire to synagogue sentenced in Kryvyi Rih
A court sentenced a minor to two years of probation supervision after he admitted guilt and compensated for damages caused by the arson of a synagogue building.
The Central-City District Court of Kryvyi Rih has delivered its verdict in the case of a 14-year-old teenager who set fire to a synagogue building. According to the outlet Pershyi Kryvorizkyi, on March 8, 2026, the boy threw two Molotov cocktails at the entrance door.
The incident occurred on the evening of April 20, 2025, on Hirnychykh Inzheneriv Street. The fire damaged the entrance door, a window, and part of the building’s facade.
In court, the teenager fully admitted his guilt and stated that he had acted alone, preparing the incendiary mixture using instructions found on the internet. According to him, his motive was a desire to gain respect among his friends.
The court found him guilty of intentional property damage by arson and sentenced him to two years of probation supervision, requiring him to regularly report to probation authorities and comply with imposed restrictions.
