Khust Eparchy asks for help for priest facing eviction from his home
The rector of the parish, along with his minor children, is being threatened with the loss of his home through court proceedings.
On March 30, 2026, the Khust Eparchy announced a fundraiser for Fr. Serhiy Slisarenko, rector of St. Elijah Church in Yasinia-Lopushanka. According to a statement posted by the eparchy on Facebook, the priest is facing a serious legal ordeal – he and his young children are being threatened with eviction from their home.
The diocesan administration stressed that it is important for the faithful to support their pastor during this difficult period so that he may continue his ministry in the future. “In this time before Pascha, let us not leave the pastor alone with his problem,” the appeal for charitable support says.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the “deserter” priest for whom the faithful had raised bail money has already been released.
