Fire breaks out on the grounds of Upper Lavra
A building on the museum grounds of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra caught fire.
On April 7, 2026, a fire broke out on the grounds of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra – the blaze erupted in one of the buildings of the Upper Lavra that falls under the authority of the National Reserve. The fire was reported by the Kyiv directorate of Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.
According to rescuers, the alert about the fire on Lavrska Street was received at 1:11 p.m. The flames engulfed a one-story unused building and spread across an area of about 150 square meters. The fire was fully extinguished by 1:43 p.m.
As noted, no one was injured in the incident.
Earlier, reports of the fire on the Lavra grounds appeared on social media, accompanied by photographs and video. The published material shows that the blaze occurred in the part of the Upper Lavra administered by the National Reserve.
As the UOJ previously reported, the OCU held a synod in the residence in the Lavra that had been seized from Metropolitan Onuphry.
