Vienna hosts regional congress of Ukrainian Orthodox youth
Youth from seven European countries discussed the spiritual foundations of democracy and prayed for peace in Ukraine before a particle of the Life-Giving Cross.
From May 1 to 3, 2026, a regional congress of Orthodox Ukrainian youth took place at the parish of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in honor of the Venerable Fathers of the Kyiv Caves in Vienna, reports the UOC Information Center. The meeting brought together believers from Austria, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, and Poland.
The program of the forum, held in one of the monasteries near Vienna, was filled with spiritual and educational events. Participants attended a lecture dedicated to Christian principles of Ukrainian state-building and the spiritual roots of democracy.
As the organizers noted, such meetings are extremely important for strengthening the Orthodox youth community in Europe and give participants the opportunity to exchange valuable experience.
Joint prayer held a special place in the program. On Saturday, evening worship was performed in the monastery church with fervent prayer for peace in Ukraine before a particle of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord.
On Sunday, the young people received Holy Communion at the Liturgy at the UOC parish in Vienna, after which an excursion to significant places in the city was organized for them.
