TRC detains UOC church rector in Sharivka, Kirovohrad Region
Relatives of Archpriest Andriy Lysiuk say the priest was detained on his way to church and taken to a distribution center in Kropyvnytskyi.
On May 30, 2026, officers of the Territorial Recruitment Center detained Archpriest Andriy Lysiuk, rector of the UOC Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Quick to Hear” in the village of Sharivka, Kirovohrad Region, the Pershyi Kozatskyi Telegram channel reported.
According to the priest’s relatives, Fr. Andriy’s car was stopped by police and TRC officers as he was on his way to a church service. After checking his documents, the cleric was taken to the territorial recruitment center.
The priest’s family members say that TRC representatives were shown all documents confirming his priestly rank and his appointment as rector of the parish. Despite this, Archpriest Andriy Lysiuk was detained.
According to relatives, after the detention the priest was taken to a distribution center in Kropyvnytskyi. They say Fr. Andriy is still being held there.
Those close to the cleric say the authorities are refusing to release him despite the documents provided. They link this to the fact that the priest is a cleric of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a UOC priest had been abducted by the TRC in Vinnytsia Region.
