MP urges mayor to call off pride march in Lviv
A deputy sent appeals to the Lviv authorities, calling the planned LGBT event a threat to national security during wartime.
People's Deputy of Ukraine Evgeny Petrunyak appealed to Lviv Mayor Andrey Sadovy and head of Lviv Regional State Administration Maxim Kozitsky with a demand to immediately consider canceling the mass event "LGBTQ+ Pride" scheduled for June 7.
The parliamentarian emphasized that under conditions of full-scale aggression and constant missile strikes on Lviv, any street actions create a direct threat to citizens' safety and an unjustified burden on police and the State Emergency Service.
In the deputy's opinion, such events have a purely political subtext and are aimed at dividing society in the rear, which could be used by the enemy for information-psychological operations. Petrunyak noted that the modern LGBT movement has long ceased to defend human rights, having transformed into an aggressive political project whose goal is to destroy traditional values and the country's demographic security.
"We must openly speak the truth: all these LGBT marches are not about rights, they are about ideological aggression against the Ukrainian family, traditions, and the demographic future of the nation," declared the people's representative. He also pointed to the danger of transgender propaganda among children and adolescents, which, according to him, leads to "hormonal mutilation" and turning youth into infertile patients of pharmaceutical companies.
The MP added that the majority of people with homosexual inclinations do not wish to have anything to do with this "grant activism" and do not support public actions. Petrunyak called on Lviv authorities to protect the foundations of moral and social norms.
As SPJ reported, employees of the Netherlands Embassy in Kiev raised an LGBT flag over the building.
