The Kyiv City State Administration called on residents to show “tolerance” and promised to ensure the safety of participants in the “March of Equality” under martial law.

In connection with the gay parade scheduled for June 21, the capital administration officially warned Kyiv residents about possible changes in transport operations and security measures.

The Kyiv City State Administration said that support for such events is “evidence of the democratic maturity of society” and protection of the values for which Ukraine is fighting today. At the same time, officials emphasized that under martial law, the safety of participants in the LGBT event remains an “absolute priority” for them.

According to the plan, several public events will take place in the center of the capital this coming weekend. At the same time as “KyivPride,” an event “in defense of the family, children, and Ukraine” will also be held in Kyiv, the organizers of which also informed the city authorities in advance. However, the main emphasis in the authorities’ statement is placed on assistance to LGBT activists.

The Kyiv City State Administration explained that significant police forces, medics, and municipal utility workers will be deployed to ensure public order during the gay parade. Residents and guests of the capital were urged to remain calm and maintain “mutual respect,” guided by the standards of a modern European city.

While martial law in the capital does not prevent the coordination of marches by LGBT activists, the participation of believers in traditional prayer processions results in administrative penalties.

Recently, in Chernivtsi Region, police fined the organizer of a multi-kilometer religious procession to the Monastery of St. John of Suceava in Krasnoilsk. Law enforcement officers accused the pilgrims of violating the rules for organizing rallies, despite the fact that the participants in the procession were praying for peace on Ukrainian soil and God’s blessing for the defenders of the Motherland.
