In Kenya, a pastor beat parishioners for talking during a sermon

In Kenya, a pastor beat parishioners for being near the church during a service and not listening to the sermon.

On June 30, 2026, a video spread in Kenya showing a pastor of a Christian community beating parishioners during a church service for being outside the church and not listening to the sermon, according to TUKO.

The footage shows the preacher, during an emotional sermon, noticing empty seats in the church and beginning to ask where the people who were supposed to be attending the service were. He then left the building and found parishioners standing and sitting outside.

The pastor attacked the people near the church and began beating them, having decided that they were neglecting the service. He then returned inside and began reprimanding the parishioners sitting in the back rows, demanding that they move to the front.

The Kenyan pastor's actions provoked a sharp reaction from social media users. Many condemned his behavior, stating that a spiritual leader should not use physical force against parishioners.

At the same time, some commenters supported the pastor, believing that the faithful should show respect for the church service and not be distracted during the sermon.

Previously, the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported that the first monument to Christians killed by Islamists was unveiled in Nigeria.
