Thousands of UOC faithful took part in a religious procession to the Intercession Monastery in Marinovka
Metropolitan Agafangel led the celebrations at the Intercession Monastery, to which thousands of pilgrims brought the Kasperovskaya Icon of the Mother of God.
Several thousand faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took part in the traditional religious procession to the Intercession Men's Monastery in the village of Marinovka, Odessa region. This was reported by the Odessa Diocese on Facebook.
The prayer procession from the village of Kovalevka to the walls of the monastery preceded the festive Divine Liturgy on the day of the veneration of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God. Upon the completion of the procession, the wonderworking Kasperovskaya Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos was brought into the monastery.
The solemn divine service on July 9, 2026, was led by Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail, co-served by hierarchs from the Sumy, Vinnytsia, and Khmelnytskyi dioceses, as well as the Rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, Archbishop Sylvester.
During the Liturgy, the clergy and laity offered prayers for the repose of all those who perished as a result of the war in Ukraine and the civilians of Odessa whose lives were tragically cut short on July 8. The faithful also prayed for the repose of the soul of His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir (Sabodan) on the 60th anniversary of his episcopal consecration.
In his archpastoral address, Metropolitan Agafangel called upon his flock to steadfastly preserve the Orthodox faith, the unity of the Church, and to intensify prayer for peace.
As the UOJ reported, more than 5,000 UOC faithful took part in the religious procession to Khreshchatyk.
