In Canada, an RCC cleric became the host at a gay wedding
Rico Passero supported his brother's homosexual union, calling the celebration "epic" and "special."
In Canada, Catholic priest Rico Passero served as the host at his brother's gay wedding. The pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Grimsby, Ontario, openly praised the celebration on social media, calling it "epic" and "amazing." This was reported by Life Site News.
The event took place near Niagara Falls in early July 2026. The clergyman announced on Facebook that he had served as the master of ceremonies at the reception celebrating the marriage of his brother Anthony and his partner Aldair Martinez Garcia. The cleric thanked family members and friends for their support of the union.
According to Passero, he is still moved by "one of the most special and amazing ceremonies" he has ever had the occasion to attend.
This behavior by the priest directly contradicts the Catechism of the Catholic Church. According to Vatican teaching, homosexual acts are "intrinsically disordered" and contrary to natural law. The RCC's teaching defines such acts as mortal sin and calls people with such inclinations to chastity.
Journalists sent a request to the bishop of the Diocese of St. Catharines, Gerard Paul Bergie, to determine whether disciplinary measures would be taken against the cleric. As of now, neither the diocesan administration nor Rico Passero himself has commented on the situation.
As the UOJ previously reported, a Catholic nun opened a transgender support group in a monastery.
