Church of the Presentation damaged by shelling in Russia’s Kursk Region

The war in Ukraine continues to damage places of worship in border regions. A newly built Church of the Presentation in the village of Kulbaki, Glushkovo District, Kursk region, was damaged in an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to the Kursk Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church.

According to the eparchy, news of the shelling emerged on July 7, 2026, although it did not specify exactly when the church had been hit.

“After being struck by an enemy projectile, the church was completely gutted by fire,” the eparchy said.

No further details about the circumstances of the attack or possible casualties were provided.

The UOJ also reported that a church belonging to the UOC’s Dormition Convent in Prymorske was destroyed by shelling. Cases of church buildings being damaged or destroyed have been recorded on both sides of the front line throughout the armed conflict.
