TRC releases 52-year-old rector of two churches in Uman Eparchy
After spending several days at the TRC, Fr. Mykola Yevtushenko returned home and was issued a summons for August 6.
Fr. Mykola Yevtushenko, a 52-year-old cleric of the UOC’s Uman Eparchy who was taken to a territorial recruitment center after being detained on the road on July 21, 2026, has been released and allowed to return home. The priest’s family told the UOJ about his release.
According to his relatives, Fr. Mykola has already returned home.
“Glory to God. Father has been released. He has just arrived, alive and well. He was treated well at the Uman TRC and was given food. Recruiters came and tried to persuade him to join the OCU or become a chaplain’s assistant,” the family said.
The priest’s relatives also said that he had been issued a summons requiring him to report to the TCC on August 6.
The UOJ previously reported that on July 21, police and TRC officers stopped the vehicle in which Fr. Mykola was traveling. After checking his documents, they took him to the territorial recruitment center to update his military registration records and undergo a military medical examination. For several days, relatives were not allowed to meet with the priest and were only permitted to deliver clothing, medicine, and food.
Fr. Mykola Yevtushenko serves as rector of the Church of the Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessaloniki in the village of Tanske and the Church of the Holy Unmercenary Physicians Cosmas and Damian in the village of Dobrovody, both in the Uman Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
