In Berlin, an Islamist drove a car into a crowd at an LGBT march

German authorities called the Islamist attack on gay parade participants a strike against a free society.

In the center of Berlin, an ISIS supporter drove into participants of a gay parade. One person was killed in the attack, and at least 16 others were injured to varying degrees. This is reported by BBC.

The tragedy occurred late in the evening in the area of Tiergarten park, when LGBT march participants had gathered at the Brandenburg Gate for the final celebration. According to police, the suspect is a 21-year-old named Abdul B., who has connections in Islamist circles. German media report that he is a supporter of the terrorist group Islamic State.

Eyewitnesses said that a white van drove into the crowd at high speed shortly after 10:00 PM local time. According to witnesses, the vehicle only stopped after colliding with a tree, after which the driver abandoned the car and fled the scene. A large-scale manhunt is currently underway in Berlin.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz promised to "fully investigate and punish" the act. For his part, Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner chose to describe the incident as "an attack on our free and open society." Pride organizers announced the cancellation of all further festive events.

As the UOJ reported, lawyers in Italy advise migrants to pose as gay men for the sake of asylum.
