Two Primates of Local Churches to Attend Patriarch Bartholomew's Jubilee
On the 65th anniversary of the Phanar's head diaconal ordination, three Primates will celebrate a joint Liturgy in his homeland.
Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and Archbishop John of Albania will travel to the Greek island of Imvros to participate in the jubilee of Patriarch Bartholomew. This is reported by the Greek public broadcaster ERT.
On August 13, 2026, the primates of three Local Orthodox Churches will celebrate a joint Divine Liturgy at the metropolitan cathedral of the Most Holy Theotokos.
The jubilee celebrations are dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Patriarch Bartholomew's diaconal ordination. The future Patriarch received his first holy order in this same cathedral in his homeland on August 13, 1961.
Two days later, on August 15, the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, Patriarch Bartholomew and Archbishop John of Albania will celebrate another concelebration. At the Annunciation church in the mountain village of Agridia on Imvros, the hierarchs will serve a second joint Liturgy.
As the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported, Patriarch Shio of Georgia will visit the Phanar.
