Moldovan Church and Bessarabian Metropolis heads discuss paths for dialogue
Metropolitan Vladimir of the Moldovan Church and Metropolitan Antonie of Bessarabia met in Chișinău.
Metropolitan Vladimir of Chișinău and All Moldova and Metropolitan Antonie of Bessarabia met on August 26, 2026, at the presidential residence in Chișinău, where they were attending celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the republic’s independence, Basilica.ro reports.
Both hierarchs expressed readiness to continue direct communication and seek ways to deepen dialogue between their church communities for the sake of peace and responsibility in society.
The hierarch of the Metropolis of Bessarabia also noted cooperation between the two church structures in the social and charitable sphere.
As the UOJ reported, Moldova’s Liberal Party previously called for the metropolis to be banned over its ties with the Russian Orthodox Church.
