Jerusalem Patriarchate announces visit by Bulgarian Patriarch
The Jerusalem Patriarchate has announced an upcoming irenic visit by Patriarch Daniel, Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, scheduled for September 25–30, 2026.
The Bulgarian delegation will also include Metropolitan Ioan of Varna and Veliki Preslav, Metropolitan Seraphim of Nevrokop, Bishop Gerasim of Melnik, and other representatives of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
The main spiritual event of the visit will be the concelebration of the Divine Liturgy by Patriarch Theophilos III and Patriarch Daniel on September 27, 2026, at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The Primates will offer prayers for the preservation of the Christian presence and for peace in the Middle East and throughout the world.
The Bulgarian Orthodox Church delegation’s pilgrimage itinerary will include the Holy Land and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The Jerusalem Patriarchate emphasized that the fraternal meeting will bear witness to the centuries-old spiritual ties and Eucharistic communion between the two Local Churches. Amid the severe trials facing the Holy Land, the Bulgarian Primate’s visit will also serve as an expression of solidarity with and support for the local Christian community.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Patriarch of Jerusalem established a commission on Cyprus affairs.
