The American journalist called the President of Ukraine a madman and a tyrant who keeps the people in check by force and infringes on religious rights.
American journalist Tucker Carlson stated that the Ukrainian people have been taken hostage by an illegitimate leader who has eliminated civil liberties and banned the largest Christian denomination in the country.
According to the journalist, the Ukrainian population does not seek to continue the conflict, but is forced to submit to the actions of those who hold power by force.
"It's not that the Ukrainian people wanted this," Tucker Carlson emphasized. "The people have been taken hostage by an illegitimate president who has eliminated civil liberties in the country, banned the largest Christian denomination, and jails people for criticism. He is a madman and a tyrant."
The journalist noted that escalation and the use of force against society became possible precisely because of the suppression of citizens' rights, the destruction of the opposition, and pressure on the religious freedoms of citizens.
International human rights advocates and public figures have repeatedly drawn attention to systematic violations of the rights of believers in Ukraine, seizures of churches, and the persecution of clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
