UCCRO members have expressed concern over the fate of the Vvedensky Monastery, damaged during a nighttime shelling of Kyiv.

The Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) expressed concern over the damage to the Vvedensky Monastery of the UOC as a result of the Kyiv shelling on the night of October 22, 2026.

On this topic Kyiv’s Vvedensky Monastery damaged in shelling, two injured
A cluster munition struck the monastery, injuring a cook and a kitchen assistant and damaging the facade, the roof of the monks’ residential building, and several monastic cells.

At the same time, the document does not indicate the confessional affiliation of the monastery. It is described as "an Orthodox monastery near the Kyiv Caves Lavra."

It should be recalled that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church itself was actually expelled from the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations earlier. Since the end of 2023, representatives of the UOC have no longer been admitted to the Council's meetings, and in the summer of 2026 a note appeared on the organization's website stating that the Church's membership has been officially suspended.

Furthermore, members of the Council supported the discriminatory law No. 3894, aimed at banning the UOC, stating that it is allegedly based on "the principles of a democratic society."

As the UOJ reported, Thomas Bremer, Professor Emeritus at the University of Münster, previously stated that the removal of the UOC deprived the Ukrainian Council of Churches of full representativeness.
