The Union of the UAOC and the UOC-KP is Hardly Possible until Filaret is at the Heads of KP

The UOC authorities are convinced that the union of Churches fails for old reasons, writes the "News".

The deputy head of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC, Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich commented to the"News" the disrupted union of the UOC-KP and the Autocephalous Church. 

"The union is an internal matter of the UOC-KP and the UAOC. Our church does not interfere in this process. And if something they do goes wrong, they should not blame anyone but themselves," said Archpriest. Nikolai Danilevich.

Also Archpriest noticed that progress in the matter of churches unification is hardly possible until Filaret remains at the head of the UOC-KP.

"What mainly holds back the union is the uncompromising attitude of the UOC-KP as a whole, and its leader - Filaret, in particular. Also today, we see the consequences of the misdeeds committed 20 years ago, when Filaret took over some parishes from the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and on their basis founded what is now called the UOC-KP. 

Prior violations of church canons make themselves felt. And therefore, it is hardly possible that as long as Filaret leads the UOC-KP, there could be any progress in the matter of unity of the Ukrainian Orthodoxy ", - said Father Nicholai.

On July 9, it became known that the Autocephalous Church rejected the union with UOC Kiev Patriarchate.
