Before the beginning of the Great Lent, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine sent a message to the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with words of instruction and blessed a special rule to pray for peace, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.

According to the Primate of the UOC, "Lent is a special, precious time given to us to free oneself from sinful cravings, to renew faith, hope and love in our hearts."

"We bless the clergy, monks and believers of our Ukrainian Orthodox Church throughout the Great Lent to read Psalms 45 and 90 from the Psalter daily, as well as to make 12 earthly bows with the prayer ‘Our Father’ for peace in our long-suffering Ukrainian land," said Blessed Onuphry.

As reported, Metropolitan Augustine urged the faithful to offer their sincere prayers as often as possible to the Most Holy Mother of God – the Blessed Virgin Mary, as well as to all the saints who are glorified in our land.
