The head of the Assyrian Church of the East, Catholicos-Patriarch Mar Awa III, has declared that the persecutions against the UOC are inhumane, as reported by Vima Orthodoxias.
"With great sorrow, we perceive the bitter events and injustices committed against the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church," stated the leader of the Assyrian Church.
He expressed deep sadness upon learning that "the hierarchs of the UOC are condemned and imprisoned, while its churches are sealed and taken over by schismatics."
Commenting on the possible ban on the UOC, Mar Awa III emphasized that "a great evil is being perpetrated by godless forces who intend to make the Church of God disappear in this country."
He strongly condemned "these inhumane actions that violate international laws and disregard the freedom of religion and conscience for all people." He also expressed the belief that "it is the duty of the UN to monitor the situation and protect the rights of all the children of the Church in Ukraine so that their Christian rights are not violated."
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Catholicos of All Armenians criticized the ban on the UOC.
