Franciscan Mauro Gambetti, Cardinal-Protopriest of St Peter's Cathedral and the Pope's Vicar for the Roman Diocese of the RCC, has announced that gay couples will be blessed in St Peter's Basilica, reports ilmessaggero.it.

He said that although "no announcements have yet been made, if any homosexual couple requests a blessing at St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, their request will be granted."

The cardinal explained this decision by saying that the Church must "show the world a motherly face and conform to what the pope has asked for."

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to the Phanariot hierarch, Archbishop Evgenios of Crete, gender diversity is not a sin.
