On August 22, 2021, during the divine service with Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, the “priests” of the OCU were forbidden to wear mitres, reports the OCU website.
The press service of the newly created religious organization published the rules according to which access to the liturgy with the participation of the Phanar head and Dumenko will be carried out.
It will be possible to enter the territory of St. Sophia’s Cathedral only through security checkpoints. The OCU believers were forbidden to bring water bottles, food and posters into the territory. The OCU promised that water would be distributed near the cathedral.
The OCU stressed that during the divine service, “priests” should not wear mitres, “using only kamelaukions (monks – klobuks)”. In addition, you will need to have identity documents with you.
Mitre (ancient Greek μίτρα "belt, headband") is a headdress, part of liturgical vestments in a number of Christian Churches.
As reported, the head of the UOC-KP Filaret Denisenko took part in the “Unification Council” at the St. Sophia of Kyiv without the “patriarchal” koukoulion. Later he said that he had taken off the koukoulion at the "Council" at the request of the Phanar hierarch.
