Greek Church reacts to the gay couple children baptized by Phanar hierarch

On July 18, 2022, the Holy Synod of the Hellenic Orthodox Church reacted to the baptism of the children of a gay couple, performed by Archbishop Elpidophoros last week, according to the Orthodoxia News Agency publication.

The Synod of the Church of Greece decided to send a letter of protest to Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, as well as a corresponding letter to the head of Phanar, under whose canonical jurisdiction Archbishop Elpidophoros falls.

The reason for the protest was the report of Metropolitan Antonios of Glyfada, who said that Archbishop Elpidophoros had deceived him and had not warned him he would baptize the children of a gay couple.
