On July 1, two tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra by the UOC Synodal Department for Social and Humanitarian Affairs and the Kyiv Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as part of the “Mission of Mercy” program, the Lavra’s press service reported.

The aid was delivered by Archpriest Andrii Dvorovyi, head of the Kyiv Eparchy’s Department of Social Service and Charity, and Archpriest Kostiantyn Dvorovyi, deputy head of the Synodal Department. The initiative was dedicated to the feast day of St. John of Shanghai.

The shipment included solar panels, an inverter, and all necessary components for an autonomous power system, as well as food supplies such as meat, lard, fish, fruits, vegetables, and other essential items. The monastery noted that it has been without electricity for nearly two months, making this assistance especially important for sustaining the daily lives of the brethren and refugees currently sheltering in the Lavra.

The clergy also delivered humanitarian aid to the Lavra’s skete dedicated to St. John of Shanghai in the village of Adamivka.

“St. John gave all of us an example of mercy. We thank God that we were able to come to the saint’s homeland at this particular time and take part in the festive services,” said Archpriest Andrii Dvorovyi.

After visiting the Lavra, the UOC volunteers plan to deliver aid to Ukraine’s defenders and civilians living in frontline areas, including needy faithful of UOC parishes in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. Fathers Andrii and Kostiantyn previously brought humanitarian assistance to the Holy Mountains in May of this year.

As the UOJ reported, the UOC recently launched a campaign to help refugee children prepare for the upcoming school year.
