Queen of Great Britain opposes “same-sex marriage” because of her faith
The Queen is Supreme Governor of the Church of England, which strongly opposes gay marriage and secured protection from having to allow gay marriages to take place in its churches without a change in the law.
Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain did not believe that gay marriage had been legalized, Christian Today reports.
The newspaper quotes a “friend” as saying that the Queen, because of her deep Christian faith, did not support “same-sex marriage” and was convinced that marriage should be between a man and a woman.
The Queen reportedly told her friend she was frustrated but "powerless to intervene."
“I cannot intervene, I can only advise and warn,” she said.
The friend added: "It was the 'marriage' thing that she thought was wrong, because marriage ought to be sacrosanct between a man and a woman."
The law on “same-sex marriage” was passed in England and Wales in 2013 and in Scotland in 2014. However, such marriages are still not permitted in Northern Ireland.
