AUCCRO urges to hold Russian Church accountable after shelling of Okhmatdyt
The AUCCRO appealed to the World Council of Churches, the Conference of European Churches and governments of countries where children's lives are valued.
On July 8, the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations condemned the attack by the Russian Federation and urged the global community to respond to it, according to a statement on the organization's website.
The Council calls for:
- Condemning Russia's actions against Ukraine and recognizing Russia as a state-terrorist;
- Ceasing economic relations with Russia to avoid complicity in Russian war crimes against Ukraine and the genocide of the Ukrainian people;
- Taking all measures to stop Russia's aggression against Ukraine and restore international law;
- Providing Ukraine with necessary means to protect lives, including additional air defense resources, aircraft, electronic warfare equipment, and everything necessary for defense and restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity.
Additionally, the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations calls for holding the Russian Orthodox Church accountable, which supports Russia's aggression, "incites interethnic and interfaith enmity, and through preaching the ideology of the 'Russian world' encourages genocide of the Ukrainian people."
As reported by the UOJ, His Beatitude expressed condolences over the missile shelling of Kyiv and called for earnest prayers for the victims.
