Municipality in Germany distributes LGBT materials to daycare centers
In Hanover, municipal structures sent a list of "queer books" to 41 preschool institutions, prompting public controversy.
The authorities of the city of Hanover (Germany) distributed to 41 municipal daycare centers a list of recommended literature on LGBT topics, European Conservative reports.
The recommendations were prepared by a city queer employee network under the guidance of the commissioner for sexual and gender diversity. According to municipal representatives, the materials are intended for use in kindergartens, nurseries, and after-school care groups.
The fiercest disputes were sparked by certain titles aimed at toddlers and preschool-age children. One book reportedly contains illustrations of characters after surgical sex-reassignment procedures; another includes detailed explanations of bodily anatomy and recommendations for children to study their intimate parts on their own.
For younger schoolchildren, a book titled “Me and My Dysphoria Monster” is recommended, in which gender identity is explained through an artistic image. The book offers a psychological framing, designed to teach children that biological reality is a burden and that ‘transitioning’ is the only path to happiness.
Critics of the initiative consider such materials inappropriate for children, while city authorities insist the goal is to cultivate respectful attitudes toward diversity.
Similar educational projects have previously been implemented in other regions of Germany as well, including Berlin, where courses for teenagers address issues of gender identity and self-expression. "From the nurseries of Hanover to the classrooms of Berlin, the German state appears to be institutionalizing a radical ideology that targets the most vulnerable members of society," the publication says.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a transgender person shot and killed nine people in a Canadian school.
