Khmelnytskyi Eparchy choir performs hymn by Patriarch Ilia
The choir of the Khmelnytskyi Eparchy performed a sacred work by Patriarch Ilia on the day commemorating his repose.
On the 40th day after the repose of Patriarch Ilia, Primate of the Georgian Church, the Bishops’ Choir of the Khmelnytskyi Eparchy performed the hymn “Kyrie Eleison,” composed by the First Hierarch. This was reported by the eparchy’s press service.
The eparchy emphasized that the prayerful performance was a sign of special respect for the Patriarch’s person and for the spiritual legacy he left to future generations of believers.
Clergy and laypeople who attended the event noted that Patriarch Ilia left a significant mark not only on the life of the Georgian Church but also on the wider international Orthodox community. His compositions and theological works continue to inspire clergy and laity toward sincere prayer, faith, and love.
As the UOJ reported, Patriarch Ilia was buried in Tbilisi’s Dormition Cathedral. He led the Georgian Orthodox Church for nearly half a century, becoming one of the most influential primates of contemporary Orthodoxy.
