Metropolitan Serhiy of Ternopil concelebrates with Patriarch Shio in Georgia

A hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church concelebrated with Patriarch Shio at the Liturgy on Day of Family Purity at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Georgian Church.

Metropolitan Serhiy (Hensytsky) of Ternopil and Kremenets participated in the festive celebrations in Tbilisi on the occasion of the Day of Family Purity and Respect for Parents on May 17, 2026, reports the UOJ in  Georgia.

As part of the celebration, participants of the solemn prayer procession walked from the Church of Saint George the Victorious (Kashveti) to the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. The festive Liturgy was led by Catholicos-Patriarch Shio III of All Georgia. Delegations of Orthodox Churches from various countries participated in the Liturgy, including Metropolitan Serhiy of Ternopil.

As the UOJ reported, a delegation of the UOC participated in the funeral of Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia. Metropolitan Serhiy also visited Tbilisi in March 2026 – then he arrived together with foreign delegations to express condolences in connection with the death of the Primate of the Georgian Church and to perform a memorial service at his coffin at the Patriarchal Cathedral.
