Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra honors Hieromartyr Vladimir (Bogoyavlensky)
Services in honor of the uncovering of the relics of Hieromartyr Vladimir were celebrated at the Lavra.
Services were held at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on the day of the uncovering of the relics of Hieromartyr Vladimir, Metropolitan of Kyiv and Galicia. This was reported by the Lavra press service.
The Divine Liturgy in the Church of St. Agapitus of the Caves was headed by Bishop Arkadiy of Hostomel, vicar of the Kyiv Eparchy of the UOC. He was concelebrated by the brethren of the monastery and invited clergy. On the eve of the feast, an All-Night Vigil was served in the same church.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the clergy and faithful served a moleben in the center of the church. Those present prayerfully honored the memory of Hieromartyr Vladimir, who served as Metropolitan of Kyiv and Galicia and received a martyr’s death in 1918.
“Hieromartyr Vladimir is a saint of God who struggled in ascetic labor alongside the venerable fathers of the Kyiv Caves until his martyrdom in 1918 and now glorifies the Lord together with them in the mansions of the Heavenly Kingdom. His life is an example of Christian holiness and prayerful ascetic struggle. His soul now rejoices in the dwellings of God, calling each of us to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of the Lord and His Holy Church,” the monastery recalled.
As the UOJ reported, an OCU cleric called for the monks to be expelled from the Lavra under “wartime laws.”
