LGBT Catholics march in Rome Pride parade with rainbow cross
Participants in the gay pride march said the “rainbow cross” is a visible sign of the LGBT community’s presence within the Church.
Members of an LGBT Catholic group carried a rainbow cross during a gay pride march in Rome, in an event presented as an effort to reconcile Christian faith with homosexual identity, according to LifeSiteNews.
Activists from Mosaiko – Movimento Cristiani Arcobaleno (“Mosaic – Rainbow Christians Movement”) say their mission is to provide “a space for encounter, sharing of faith, and fraternal fellowship among LGBT Christians.”
According to representatives of the organization New Ways Ministry, the appearance of the rainbow cross at the march was intended as a public statement that Catholic faith and LGBT ideology are not in conflict but rather “belong together.”
Participants in the procession said the rainbow cross serves as a tangible sign of their presence in the Church and a symbol of “inclusivity” that accompanies them during prayer gatherings.
The group also voiced support for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Italy and for granting such couples the right to adopt children.
